On 12.01.2005 the so-called two-phase training has been launched in Switzerland. The purpose is to improve the training for new drivers.
First Phase: The first phase ends with the successful acquisition of driver's license.
Second Phase: The second phase is limited to 3 years, commencing upon receipt of the driving licence. During these three years the mandatory training of 16 hours, divided into 2-day course of 8 hours, must be completed.
After having passed the practical test you will have to attend the WAB1 course within 6 months and the WAB2 course within 3 years. One month before the expiry date of the probationary driver's license you must submit an application for the grant of a permanent driver's license. By indicating in the tool WAB-Erinnerung when you have passed the practical examination, you will automatically receive an e-mail and SMS as a reminder for the WAB-courses. This service is a free service of the Swiss Driving Instructor.
You will find the WAB reminder in the tools for learners: Free tools for learners
